You wanna talk bomb lyricists? Let's talk Talib Kweli. Wanna talk badass traditional beatsmiths? Let's talk Hi-Tek. This thirty track masterpiece hits hard on old school hip-hop, but it doesn't ignore contemporary and cutting edge aspects of the genre. RE:Union is the history album.

2. All Day by Girl Talk



Girl Talk strikes gold once more with this massive mixtape released in November of 2010. With numerous artists and just as many titles, this 90 minutes track on repeat is the only thing you need for a party.

1. Air Swell and The Preview by Chiddy Bang



Chiddy Bang's combined output this past year in the form of Air Swell and The Preview has been phenomenal. The Swelly Express (released in 2009) tells the "fictional" story of two kids from Philadelphia trying to break into the music industry, and Air Swell and The Preview continue to build hype for a real album. These guys are obviously interested in indie bands and their ability to take songs and make it their own is delightful. Keep an eye out for these guys in the coming year.
